By now I’m sure you believe me when I say I’m beyond lucky to be surrounded by the most gorgeous, passionate, motivated and innovative wedding industry professionals of the future. Today is Sunday and I have a banger of a Sunday session to share with you. If you’ve missed day one to five you must play catch up, and not forgetting that the introduction features run for another 10 fabulous days.
Jo attended the My Wedding Business Introductory Course but this wasn’t the first time we’d met. Having set her business up 6 years ago she had exhibited at one of the wedding shows I had also attended a few years ago. Now established and looking to take her business to the next level Jo enrolled on the course and has gone from strength to strength. Her cakes are polished, scrumptious and she’s the loveliest person you could wish to meet. Here she shares some insider information …..
Whether it was crafting models from modelling clay or drawing and sketching, I’ve always loved to be creative, even from an early age. Before I was a full time wedding cake maker and launched White Rose Cake Design, I had a “real” job as a personal assistant, however I had always wanted to do something more crafty. After my wedding in 2009 I decided to get myself a hobby, as planning my wedding had been my hobby but I couldn’t do that any more! I enrolled on a sugar flowers course at Huddersfield Technical College (as it was then) and fell in love! I took voluntary redundancy in 2011 and have been making wedding and celebration cakes full time since then.
I’ve gradually honed my skills and now create stunning wedding cakes and sugar flowers for discerning brides and get to deliver to all kinds of stunning venues across West and South Yorkshire. I was thrilled to be a Finalist in the 2016 I Do Awards.
All my cakes are baked from scratch, fresh to order, and I use quality local ingredients where possible. The cakes are covered with a layer of chocolate ganache, adding a touch of luxury, and then iced with a crisp clean layer of sugarpaste icing. Each of my cakes are at least 4” tall, adding a touch of elegance to the finished cake. Whether it’s intricate piped lace, delicate sugar flowers or other bespoke decoration, my wedding cakes are crafted with love, care and attention right from the initial consultation to the finished product, which will (hopefully) taste as good as it looks!
I offer free consultations, where you can call for a cuppa, have some cake and a chat. I also offer free local delivery. I prefer to deliver the cakes myself, so I can ensure they’re set up correctly and look their best for my happy couples.
My wedding cakes are surprisingly affordable, starting from £350 for a three tier cake serving approximately 70 guests.
